A man was accused by authorities of breaking into two Tribeca homes connected to Swift in 2022 and of stalking and trespassing. In the same year, another man was detained after smashing his car into the townhouse; the man allegedly threatened to stay until he met with Swift.
This is not the first time someone has been detained for allegedly trying to enter the pop star’s building without authorization; almost two years ago, a 52-year-old man was detained there on trespassing charges, and in 2018, a guy broke into her condo and took a sleep.
Although they did not confirm a break-in attempt at Swift’s residence, police on the same block detained a man after receiving reports that he attempted to open a building’s door, an NYPD representative said on Sunday. The individual was accused of not responding to a summons and was booked on an unrelated 2017 Brooklyn warrant, according to the spokeswoman.
They informed the authorities that the person had been “sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking continuously, shouting, and generally causing discomfort to everyone.”
“I first saw him around 1 p.m.,” stated one witness. He approached Taylor’s door, but I’m not sure if he rang or knocked,” the statement continues. Another witness reported that Taylor “had flowers at one point” and that “my husband asked what he was doing here when he arrived before Christmas.”
Taylor was spotted recording music at the Electric Lady studio in Manhattan on Thursday of this week, so it’s plausible that she was in the town when the stalker turned up. The man was brought into custody after being captured, and he currently has an active warrant against him.
Images of the arrest revealed a brunette with disheveled hair. His outfit consisted of an off-white sweater, tan trousers and a navy blazer.
