India vs Australia ICC World Cup Final- Australia and India will meeet in the final. For both teams, and especially for India, the competition has therefore gone full circle; they may also feel this way in other respects.

In Chennai, Australia and India had played their first match. Despite losing three wickets in the first two overs, India had defeated them by six wickets at that point.

Additionally, Australia and India will be playing in a World Cup final for the second time. It was the first final for India this century, and it happened back in 2003. But they weren’t a match for Ricky Ponting’s world-beating team, nor was any other team in the tournament.

Australia wins at Nottingham on June 13, 1983, by a score of 162 runs.

In 1983, Australia and India played each other in a World Cup match for the first time ever. After winning the toss and opting to bat, Australia amassed 320/9, led by 110 from Trevor Chappell. India’s captain, Kapil Dev, top scored with a blistering 40 in 27 after taking five wickets. However, India lost the game by 162 runs after being all out for 158.

June 20, 1983: India defeats England by 118 runs at Chelmsford

Later on in the tournament, the two teams faced off once more, and India came out on top this time. Kapil Dev choose to bat first after winning the toss. India was bowled out for 247 after Yashpal Sharma scored the most with 40 runs. After that, India crushed the Australians for 129 runs and won the match by 118 runs thanks to four-wicket hauls from Madan Lal and Roger Binny.

A little over a year before, the two teams had played the renowned drawn Test match at the Chepauk, and they ultimately produced another masterpiece. Australia amassed a score of 270/6 thanks to a 110 from Geoff Marsh. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Krishnamachari Srikkanth were in a second-wicket stand that gave the impression that India was winning easily.

However, a collapse was initiated when Srikkanth collapsed. When it came down to the final ball, Maninder Singh was on fire and India needed two to win. Australia won the thrilling match by a single run after Steve Waugh cleaned him up.

October 22, 1987 – India win by 56 runs

When the teams rematched in Delhi later in the tournament, India exacted their retribution. Using the first bat, India scored 289/6. India won the match by 56 runs thanks to three wickets taken by Maninder Singh and Mohammed Azharuddin, who had hit an unbeaten 54 off 45.

This was going to be a 47-over-a-side match because of the rain. India’s goal was subsequently changed to 236 even though Australia reached 237/9 while batting first. India was playing in their first World Cup final since 2003, and it was also their first time up against Australia in the tournament’s championship match. Australia batted first and reached 359/2 thanks to a brilliant 140 from captain Ricky Ponting in 121 balls. While India made a fantastic attempt to chase the enormous total, they were ultimately defeated by 125 runs.

India wins at Ahmedabad on March 24, 2011, by a margin of five wickets

In the World Cup, India defeated Australia for the first time since 1983 thanks to the all-around brilliance of Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj, R Ashwin, and Zaheer Khan each claimed two wickets as Australia posted 260/6, with Captain Ponting leading the way once again with 104 in 118 balls. After that, Yuvraj, who was undefeated at 57, Tendulkar, and Gautam Gambhir all scored half century, and India won by a margin of five wickets.

Australia wins in Sydney on March 26, 2015, with a score of 95 runs.

This time, the two teams met in the World Cup semifinal. Australia scored 328 for the loss of seven wickets, with Steve Smith scoring 105 in 93. Despite captain MS Dhoni’s run-a-ball score of 65, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, and James Faulkner destroyed his side. Australia triumphed by 95 runs after India was all out for 233. They went on to claim their fifth World Cup victory.

India reached 352 for the loss of five wickets batting first at The Oval, led by skipper Virat Kohli’s 82 in 77 and striker Shikhar Dhawan’s 117 in 109 balls. Australia did a good job of chasing the large total, with half-centuries being scored by David Warner, Smith, and Alex Carey. Australia were reduced to 316 all out after three wickets apiece from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. India prevailed in the game by a score of 36 runs.

Indian victory on October 8, 2023, by six wickets

From an Indian bowling standpoint, the opening match of this competition appears to have set the tone. Six of India’s bowlers claimed a wicket or more during Australia’s first batting innings. After Australia was dismissed for 199, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer dismissed ducks in the first two overs, causing India to be hammered hard.

After that, Australia’s hopes of pulling off an unexpected victory were all but dashed by a 165-run partnership between Kohli and KL Rahul. At 97, Rahul remained unbeaten while Kohli scored 85.
