E Jean vs. Donald Trump

A Big Blow to Trump

A federal court in New York on Thursday ruled in a case of E Jean vs. Donald Trump ,that former US President Donald Trump will have to pay $83.3 million in damages in the rape and defamation case against writer Jin Kerala. At the same time, Donald Trump was recording his statement.

Due to allegations of slander and sexual harassment, the jury has requested that 2024 Precedent candidate ,Trump pay this reparation in defamation.

Even though he was angry, he left the courtroom and went out. Donald Trump said that the alleged writer was sexually assaulted. Trump abruptly got up from his defence side seat and left a few minutes after attorney Roberta Kaplan started her final remarks.

Due to the abrupt nature of the former president’s exit, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan had to step in during cross-examination and declare that it will be documented that Trump stood up and left the courtroom.

Donald Trump said that he was given a chance to speak only for 3 minutes to refute the allegations of sexual harassment of the alleged writer. He also said that the role of the alleged writer has created a false story and she is hungry for fame and has hostility towards him .

Following the ruling, Trump declared in a statement that he would file an appeal, calling the finding absurd. After nearly three hours of consideration and discussion, the jury made their verdict. While the discussion was in progress, Trump left the court.

The courtroom reading of the verdict did not include him. Trump had lied about Carroll on several occasions, the jury concluded, and as a result, the award includes $65 million in punitive damages.

The jury concluded that Trump had made multiple remarks against Carroll in public with the intention of harming him. The order calls for $11 million in reputational repairs in addition to $7.3 million in compensatory damages.

While expressing his displeasure with the choice, the 77-year-old Trump refuted claims that he gave orders for anybody to hurt Carroll.

Regarding the ruling by the federal court in Manhattan, author E. Jean Carroll released a statement. He declared, “This is a huge victory for every woman who is suppressed and tried to be brought down.”

Writer E. Jean Carroll expressed happiness over the decision.

Donald Trump has decided to appeal this decision against him. Let us also tell you that last month, in a similar decision in October 2022, Trump was ordered to pay 5 million dollars for the role of the writer.

Writer Kerala had sued for at least $10 million in defamation, saying she was a truth-telling journalist and her reputation had been harmed by Donald Trump’s defamatory words.

How many jurors are needed to render a verdict?

Judge Kaplan initially seated nine jurors to hear the defamation trial; however, a jury of six could still render a verdict, according to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Does Trump still plan to testify?

Alina Habba, the defence attorney, informed Kaplan that her client was scheduled to testify on Monday before the court was adjourned due to health concerns.

What happens if Trump defies the judge on the stand?

When it comes to the judge’s pretrial ruling, which states that Trump cannot argue that he never met Carroll or that he did not sexually abuse her because a jury found him liable for abusing her last year, Trump’s testimony will be severely circumscribed if he takes the stand.
